Here’s what you can expect from this episode:

Gaia Music Collective is doing extraordinary things for the artistic souls of Brooklyn and Manhattan. Soon, the reach will be even wider. But you’ve probably seen a viral video on Tiktok of one of Gaia’s events. The first one I ever saw was a group of people singing “Unwritten” in a dimly lit apartment. It was absolutely electric. And the first video Gaia ever had go viral was a Maggie Rogers song sung by a big group of strangers. You know that feeling when you're sitting around a campfire singing with friends and you think to yourself "why don't humans do this more often?" Well, with Gaia, you can.

A lot of singing events are not super accessible. You either need to go through a rigorous audition process or pay a large barrier to entry. With Gaia, tickets are available on a sliding scale and there is no need to audition. My experience at a Two-Day Choir was incredibly rejuvenating and heartwarming. One woman said she had not sung in public in years. This is why I’m so pumped to chat with Matt Goldstein, the Founder of Gaia Music Collective. I got to hear all about the rise of Gaia and how he’s been handling it. From stepping into a leadership position in a full blown company to learning how to manage his energy with a huge group of people looking to him as a friend, we’re getting into all of it.

Gaia Music Collective started with a few friends in a Bushwick apartment. Since then, they've grown to gathering hundreds of strangers every single week with the express purpose of bringing people together to sing. They've got events like One-Day Choirs that don't require any sort of audition or prior experience. And if you're more into the campfire, chill vibe, Candlelight Circlesings would be perfect for you. And we’re also chatting about Matt’s new project - Flow Labs. With a small group, they’re exploring musical improv and creative flow for eight weeks. I’m personally fascinated with the idea of musical improv and love the way Matt broke it down for us!

I really enjoyed this conversation with Matt for a little bit of behind the scenes into a collective that I've had my eyes on for months! I'll be attending Gaia Music Collective's events throughout the Summer because it's the perfect way to meet new people and indulge my little singer heart. Join me!
